Galerie du Temple
Arts & Antiques
Welcome to the Gallery
The Galerie du Temple opened its doors, Spring 2022, in Château-d’Oex which is a stone’s throw away from Gstaad – Saanenland.
The Gallery offers an inspirational experience and has its own distinctive style. We invite you to come and explore our eclectic selection of antiques, vintage, and contemporary collectables – all of which are displayed in a homely atmosphere, giving clients the ideal opportunity of finding something truly exceptional for their home or as a wonderful present.
The Gallery offers an enticing collection of art, découpages, ceramics, glassware, silverware, furniture and many more intriguing objects d’art originating from Switzerland, Scandinavia, France, England, Europe and even the Far East!
The Gallery’s space is devoted to an ever-changing array of decorative pieces which are all hand-picked by the owner. His life-long love and flair for antiques and interior design is reflected in all our pieces, which not only bring the Centuries together but truly exemplifies our individual style !
A warm and ambient atmosphere awaits you, and we look forward to welcoming you at the Galerie du Temple where you can be inspired, browse, acquire something special or just enjoy a cup of coffee and share ideas!
We are open Thursday to Saturday and at other times by appointment.
Pictures & Works of Art
Our enticing selection of paintings and artwork are from the early 1800‘s to the present day. From oils to watercolours and hand-coloured engravings depicting Swiss alpine landscapes, pastoral scenes – so often associated with the Romanticism Period – as well as some delightful bovine and hunting sketches. We also have an interesting collection of framed hand-coloured maps dating from 17th and 18th Century.
Furniture
Spanning the Centuries, our collection of original and one-off pieces of furniture includes tables, chairs, chests and cabinets ranging in style from traditional alpine, elegant period to European contemporary – dating from the early 18th Century to the present day.
Paper cuts or ‘Découpages’
We have enormous admiration for the time-old art of paper-cutting. All our ‘découpages’ are recent works by the celebrated local artist Anne ROSAT (*1935) who launched herself into the art of paper cutting back in 1969; her work remains as ravishing and collectable as ever! The Gallery will continue to exhibit a selection of her latest work.
Ceramics, Glass, Silver & Tableware
A collection of antique and modern silverware, glassware, a wide choice of candlesticks from selected designers and producers spanning the centuries, and not forgetting a fine selection of ceramics (Delft, Lunéville, Vieux Strasbourg, Wedgwood…) as well as elegant and pure contemporary pieces – an opportunity for you to add something truly special to the decoration of your table and home!
Decorative Objects & Curios
A very intriguing and delightful part to our Collection. Lovely antique, vintage and contemporary objects d’art and curios that range from beautiful old hand-painted Swiss wooden boxes to a variety of lovely carved pieces from Brienz – Black Forest.
Kilim Rugs
With their prominent patterns and colours, these rugs work exceptionally well in bringing any room together. Each one of these unique hand-woven, beautiful KILIM rugs has its own distinctive style, colour scheme and patterns, which highlights the culture and heritage of the nomadic women who wove them. We always retain a good selection of old and antique Kilims.
From the Owner
Gustave-Alain Miesegaes
“In the Spring of 2022, two years after retiring from a career in Private Banking, I began a new chapter in my life by opening a gallery that would offer something a bit different to other places. This opportunity gives me the chance to continue my own life-long interest in collecting a wide and eclectic range of pieces and sharing them with others.
Having inherited a love of antiques and interior design, I now have pleasure in being able to discover and source enticing antiques and collectables for the Gallery, each with its own unique history.
What makes it all so satisfying, is being able to use my flair for interior design to display and exhibit our hand-picked decorative objects in a homely and inspirational atmosphere. I do look forward to welcoming you to the Gallery and in the meantime, you may wish to follow our Instagram.”
Testimonials and Press
“Every visit to this marvellous shop is a joy. The welcome is as warm as the cosycorner stove and there is always something newly arrived and interesting to discover. The proprietor’s pride in his carefully chosen collection of antiques is evidenced by his generosity as he shares his extensive knowledge and appreciation for each item. What a lovely addition to Château-d’Oex!”

“A few months ago, to our great delight, a place dedicated to antiques opened in Château-d’Oex. The Gallery du Temple brings together an elegant and refined collection spanning many periods of history: 18th century silverware, walking sticks, glassware, Art Deco lamps, glass paper-weights, are just some of the objects that have seduced us! The owner is a man of culture and has excellent taste and flair. He takes great care to ensure that each item is documented with care to illustrate its provenance and history. It is a most welcoming place and one certainly not to be missed!”
Sophie et Jean Laurent-Bellue
